This popular guided safari includes a visit to Zambia`s three big tourist destinations. We will start off in Livingstone which is home to the Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Then we tour through Kafue National Park which is one of the biggest parks in Africa and has incredible wildlife diversity. We will finish the safari off in South Luangwa National Park, home of the walking safari. Possible extensions to this safari include a visit to Kasanka, Lochinvar National Parks as well as the Bengwelu swamp which is home to the Shoebill Stork.

DAY 1: Livingstone
After meeting you at the airport you will be transferred to the lodge or hotel for lunch and to freshen up. After an hour or two to relax and enjoy the view over the Zambezi River, we will depart for an afternoon boat cruise. What better way to welcome you to Zambia than with a sunset over the mighty Zambezi.

DAY 2: The Victoria Falls
After a leisurely breakfast we will start with the activities of the day. We will visit the falls and then have enough time to do any of the following optional extra activities. Helicopter flights over the falls, walking with lions, elephant back safaris, bungee jumping, white-water rafting game drive or boat cruise. Please note that these are optional and are not included in the itinerary. We will again stay in the same lodge or hotel with the brilliant view over the Zambezi and the spray of the falls.

DAY 3: Nanzhila Plains Camp, Kafue National Park
After breakfast we will depart for Kafue National Park. Kafue is Zambia`s biggest and one of the world largest National Parks - it is the size of Wales. Kafue holds the greatest diversity of antelope species of any National Park in Africa. Besides elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, hyena and giraffe other game include defassa waterbuck, tssesebe, roan, sable, zebra, oribi, lechwe, wildebeest, puku and kudu.

We will start in the beautiful southern section of the park called Nanzhila Plains. Our lodge is the only one in the southern section and at times it feels like if you have the park to yourself.

DAY 4: Nanzhila Plains Camp
We will explore the surrounding plains and bush with a morning and an afternoon game drive. This area is known for sightings of cheetah, wild dog, defassa waterbuck, oribi, sable, roan, reedbuck, and lion. This section is only accessible in the dry season. We will again stay in the same lodge and it is not uncommon to have brilliant wildlife sightings right in front of the lodge.

DAY 5: Northwards to Mukambi Safari Lodge
After an early breakfast will continue our safari through Kafue National Park with a long but exciting drive through prime game viewing areas to Mukambi Safari Lodge in the central part of the park. We will drive past the huge Itezhi Tezhi Dam as we make our way to our lodge for the next three nights situated on the banks of the beautiful Kafue River. Mukambi Lodge is situated in the game rich central area and it is not uncommon to have brilliant sightings right from the deck. After settling in we will enjoy a sun-downer with the sun setting over the Kafue River.

DAY 6-7: Game viewing in the central part of Kafue
We will spend the next two days either doing game drives or boat cruises along the Kafue River. We will be based in Mukambi Safari Lodge which is the perfect place to relax between activities. This central area is brilliant for game viewing with regular sightings of elephant, buffalo, hippo, lion, leopard, wild dog, defassa waterbuck, Lichtenstein hartebeest, roan, puku, lechwe, cheetah and sable to name a few.

From here you have the additional option of spending two nights in the Busanga Plains in the northern section of the park. This section is only open in the dry season and is famous for huge prides of lion that follow the big herds of buffalo. We can highly recommend doing an additional two to three night extension or even cutting one day at Mukambi to include a visit to Busanga. It is truly worth it. Please enquire when booking.

DAY 8-9: McBride`s Camp and the North-eastern section of Kafue
After breakfast we will slowly make our way eastward and then north to the remote north-eastern section of Kafue. Our lodge for the next two nights is situated on the banks of the Kafue River and is surrounded by beautiful Miombo Forest which is a completely different habitat from what you would have seen up to now. The drive into the lodge through the Miombo is really beautiful.

Chris and Charlotte McBride are famous for their lion research and our activities for the next two days will be combination of walking safaris and a boat cruise along this beautiful section of the Kafue River. We can do a game drive for those not keen to walk but a walk with either Chris or Charlotte is an unforgettable experience. The area is known for its lion sightings and our walks will focus on finding them on foot. This is a great experience.

DAY 10: Lusaka
After breakfast we will make our way to Lusaka, Zambia`s capital city. This will be our first time in a town since we left Livingstone a week ago. After getting fresh supplies we will spend the night at a lodge outside Lusaka. After a great dinner and early night we will be refreshed for the next part of our safari.

DAY 11: On to South Luangwa National Park
With an early start we will depart for another one of Zambia and Africa`s big national parks, South Luangwa. It is quite a long drive but well worth it once we get to our lodge on the banks of the beautiful Luangwa River where we will spend the next 4 nights. There`s no better way to relax after a long day than with a sun-downer watching big herds of animals coming down to drink and enjoying the experience of being in one of Africa`s great parks.

DAY 12-14: South Luangwa National Park
We will use the next three days to explore South Luangwa National Park with a combination of game drives and guided walks. South Luangwa is known as the park where the guided walking safaris originated. It is also known as the leopard capital of the world with a very high success rate in seeing one of these elusive big cats on a game drive. Other game present in big numbers include lion, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo, Thornicroft`s giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala and baboons. The birdlife in this park is also prolific with over 400 recorded species in the park. South Luangwa is the perfect end to a great safari. We will stay in the same lodge during our stay to ensure that we can sit back and relax without having to pack and unpack every day.

DAY 15: Back to Lusaka
After breakfast we will make our way back to Lusaka where we will spend the night and have our farewell dinner in the same lodge just outside of the city.

DAY 16: Flying out
After a leisurely breakfast we will make our way to the airport for your flight out of Zambia.
